South Point Hotel Showroom |
At sound check, Sheena decided to put in the older Burt Bacharach medley that her & I used to do. We hadn't performed the older medley since February and so I needed to remember the lyrics. But David Paul Shapirro, Sheena's assistant who we call 'DP', had a copy of the lyrics and helped me to remember my part. It's amazing that after performing a song for a few years and you stop doing it, how much you forget. So it all worked out and the audience never knew that I didn't know the lyrics at sound check, because when showtime arrived, I didn't forget the lyrics. (I should go on that TV Show)
I had a few friends show up on both Friday & Saturday and got to spend time with them before and after the shows, which is always a nice touch. I met a couple of huge Sheena fans, some had come from Florida, like 'Roberta' & 'Larry' and 'Tim'. Roberta told me that she is Sheena's biggest fan, Tim asked if I perform with Sheena on all of her shows, and I let him know that I perform on as many as I can, but sometimes I'm not available. He then went on to tell me that he really appreciates what I add to the show.
We've definitely enjoyed the three years that we've been performing at the South Point Showroom, the time really goes by fast. The hotel staff, the sound department, the stage hands, down to the drivers, 'EVERYONE' has made these past 3 years very enjoyable.
Hopefully we'll be back in Vegas soon. Currently we're in Seoul, Korea getting ready for a show tonight. It's a 16-hour difference, so it's Thursday afternoon as I'm sitting in my hotel getting ready for sound check in a couple of hours with a show tonight that I'll share with you later.
For now we appreciate the love and support that we've received both on & off stage at the South Point Showroom in Las Vegas.
Until next time - Phillip Ingram
